- Fibre Cement Slates: You can get fibre cement slates with smooth face/square edge, textured face/square edge, smooth face/riven edge, textured face/riven edge.
- British Natural Slate: Most British slate comes from quarries in Cornwall or Wales, a lot of listed buildings will required salvaged British slate to be fitted and high end project will specify new British slate. British Natural Slate is a wonderful product, but it comes with a premium price tag.
- Spanish Natural Slate: Probably the most popular natural slate in the UK. Spanish slate is a strong and durable product with a textured finish and a dark colour.
- Brazilian Natural Slate: Brazilian slate comes in 2 different colours, Grey/Green and Graphite, they are a more economical option than Spanish slate and are increasingly popular especially with new build developments. Brazilian slate can be quite brittle so we always recommend hook fixing rather than a traditional nail fix.
- Other Natural Slate: There are also specification slates from other countries across the world including Argentina, Canada and China. Slate from each of these countries have their own differences and selling points, but are less readily available than Spanish or Brazilian slate.
